Cactus – has thick woody or herbaceous stems on which thousands of thorns grow. There are no leaves or very few of them, and photosynthesis takes place in the stem. Cactus is a flowering plant belonging to the cactus family. There are more than 1,650 species. The flowers are diverse, rich in appearance, with a wide range of colors and beautiful shapes. It originates from South and North America. Most cacti live in arid areas, and do not need abundant watering. Cacti are grown as ornamental plants. Some types are used in dietary nutrition. And ferocacti serve as a source of water for people in emergency situations. They have a thin, shallow and branched root system to be able to absorb moisture.
