Together with labdanum and oak moss, it forms the basis of the chypre chord. Like other citrus materials, this is the top note that disappears quite quickly after applying the fragrance. The highest quality raw materials are obtained by direct cold pressing from bergamot harvested in Italian Calabria. Only the peel of the fruit is used for this oil.
